Description

A silver band engraved with running animals that seem to move and shift when worn, as if racing across the metal surface in an endless hunt. Tiny emeralds are embedded along the ring's circumference, each one glinting with the verdant light of untamed wilderness. When attuned, the wearer can hear the faint whisper of wind through leaves and the distant calls of beasts.

Mechanics

Ring of Wild Communion (Legendary, requires attunement)

This ring grants the following properties:

  • You can cast Speak with Animals at will without expending a spell slot
  • Once per long rest, you can cast Mass Cure Wounds at 5th level without expending a spell slot
  • As a bonus action, you can communicate telepathically with any beast within 120 feet for 1 minute

Attunement Requirements

Initial Test: When someone first puts on this ring without being worthy, they must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, roll on the Rejection Table below.

Earning Attunement: After surviving the rejection (or passing the initial save), the ring becomes inert. To truly attune to it, the wearer must demonstrate respect for nature's balance through one of the following:

  • Save a natural creature from certain death
  • Restore a corrupted or dying grove, forest, or natural site
  • Make a significant sacrifice to protect the natural world
  • Show mercy to a beast that has wronged you

Once the trial is completed, the ring glows with warm emerald light and accepts the attunement.

Rejection Table (d10)

d10Effect
1-2Feral Regression: You gain beast-like features (claws, fangs, fur) for 24 hours. You can't speak any language except primal growls and must make a DC 15 WIS save each hour or act on animal instinct.
3-4Nature's Wrath: All beasts within 120 feet become hostile to you for 1 hour and will attack on sight. Plants in a 30-foot radius animate and attempt to restrain you (DC 16 STR save to escape).
5-6Verdant Curse: Your body sprouts thorny vines that cause 1d6 piercing damage at the start of each of your turns for 1 minute. The vines wither after, leaving painful scars.
7-8Communion Overload: You hear the thoughts and emotions of every beast within 1 mile simultaneously. Make a DC 16 WIS save or gain 1 level of exhaustion and be stunned for 1 minute from sensory overload.
9Wild Rejection: You are polymorphed into a random beast (DM's choice, CR 1 or lower) for 1 hour. You retain your mental stats but gain the beast's physical form.
10Nature's Judgement: The ring sends a psychic vision of all the harm you've caused to nature. Take 6d8 psychic damage (DC 18 WIS save for half) and gain the frightened condition for 1 minute as you experience nature's pain.

This ring is one of Seylon's legendary Rings of Power, crafted with magic far beyond typical enchantments. It is particularly well-suited for healers and those who draw power from their connection to nature and life.

This ring is intended for Finlay, the Willpower Caster focused on healing. It's part of a set of rings created by Seylon.
