Overview

The Cloak of Old Scamander has broken loose and is causing magical mischief around the castle. It animates objects, taps students on the shoulder, and is widely believed to be a poltergeist.

Juniper is falsely blamed and begs the players to help clear her name. Really it was Miriam who let it out (accidentally, she was admiring it in the library) but she is too mortified to admit it.

Skill Challenge (Examples)

  • Arcana (DC 14): Detect the enchantment trail
  • Investigation (DC 13): Track signs of recent mischief
  • Animal Handling (DC 12): Lure it with enchanted crumbs from Thad's snack stash
  • Dexterity (Sleight of Hand DC 15): Catch it mid-escape

Outcome Options

  • Capture it: Earn 5 House Points and gain favor from Grimbella (who wants it restrained)
  • Keep it secretly: You keep it as a usable Cloak of Elvenkind
