the party started in the common room, discussing their electives: Runes, Divination, and History of Magic.
they called Callum over, but he was kind of avoiding them and said he wanted nothing to do with them anymore. Otto felt bad.
At dinner in the great hall, they saw that Hagrid had returned from sabbatical.
Finlay went up to Professor Trelawney and spooked her, but she was glad to hear that he was excited to take her class.
They decided to revisit the tower by using their wardrobe. The prefect gave them some trouble but they were able to go early in the morning before the others woke up.
They went through the next levels fairly quickly:
In Lyra's bedroom, they talked to the doll, who revealed that Seylon created her but never loved her the same as the real (dead) Lyra
In the hive room, they found the chest with magical items and discovered the purpose of the mushrooms. By mixing them with the water and seeing snakes slither around the water they were able to deduce the purpose of one of the mushrooms. Otto ate it and understood the riddle. Caoimhe answered it ("tears" different than the solution I had planned but I thought it worked).
In the serpent room, Otto was able to talk to the golden snake and answered the questions correctly.
In the trophy room, Otto quickly noticed that the animals were fake -- all except the unicorn horn and he touched it and disappeared. Finlay and Caoimhe followed quickly after.
In the hidden library, they all eventually found the books intended for them (unable to read the others).
Caoimhe bombarda'd a locked wall to a room with flying books. There she saw Primrose with another boy (who Prim later revealed to be named "Silas Carrow"). They tried to sneak up by climbing a pile of books and eavesdropping, but Otto accidently caused a sort of book avalance on the hill and drew their attention.
They tried to negotiate and the boy seemd to be in a hurry. Otto cast "Petrificus Totalus" on Silas and he fell to the ground.
Prim cast "Petrificus Totalus" on Otto and Silas recovered, copying text from the book furiously.
Caoimhe lept into action by casting immobulus, knocking Prim unconcious and the boy stumbling. He stumbled to the suitcase and let himself fall through it, leaving an explosive device behind.
Otto Wingardium Leviosa-ed the explosive away.
They took Prim's wand, and Finlay brought her back to convciousness using anapneo.
The party questioned her (Otto at one point with his hands around her neck) and got it out of her that she has been receiving messages from "Harry Potter". They called her dumb for believing that and she started crying but believed it.
They got her to copy down what the book she found said: locations to hiding places of mysterious rings that Seylon had created.
They went to McGonagall's office and she reprimanded them all for disobeying rules and going into the restricted section. She gave them all detention with Wizzlethorpe.
She said she would contact Harry Potter and took 400 points from Ravenclaw.
