Description

A silver ring with a crystalline hourglass embedded in its center, the sands within flowing upward as often as they fall down. The metal is etched with tiny clock hands and temporal symbols that seem to tick backward and forward simultaneously. When worn, the wearer occasionally experiences brief moments of déjà vu, sensing events just before they occur.

Mechanics

Ring of Temporal Echo (Legendary, requires attunement)

This ring grants the following properties:

  • Once per long rest, you can rewind time by 6 seconds (1 round), allowing you or an ally within 60 feet to reroll any d20 roll made during that round and use either result
  • You can cast Detect Thoughts at will without expending a spell slot
  • You have advantage on initiative rolls as you sense what's about to happen moments before it occurs

Attunement Requirements

Initial Test: When someone first puts on this ring without being worthy, they must make a DC 18 Intelligence saving throw. On a failure, roll on the Rejection Table below.

Earning Attunement: After surviving the rejection (or passing the initial save), the ring becomes inert. To truly attune to it, the wearer must demonstrate their ability to handle the weight of temporal knowledge through one of the following:

  • Make a choice that significantly alters the course of events, knowing full well the consequences
  • Save someone from certain death by acting on a premonition or vision
  • Experience a temporal paradox and maintain your sense of self despite it
  • Demonstrate that you understand time is precious by making a sacrifice in a moment that matters

Once the trial is completed, the hourglass glows with prismatic light and the ring accepts the attunement.

Rejection Table (d10)

d10Effect
1-2Time Loop: You relive the last round of combat or minute of activity on repeat 1d4 times, unable to change your actions. Other creatures see you flickering between moments.
3-4Accelerated Aging: You age 2d10 years instantly. Your physical appearance changes, and you gain 1 level of exhaustion. Greater Restoration can reverse this.
5-6Temporal Displacement: You phase out of time for 1 minute. You can see and hear everything but cannot interact with the world or be perceived. When you return, you are stunned for 1 round.
7-8Paradox Damage: Take 6d10 force damage as timelines collapse around you. Make a DC 18 CON save or be stunned for 1 round and gain vulnerability to all damage for 1 minute.
9Memory Fracture: You lose all memory of the past hour and glimpse a possible future instead. The DM shows you a brief, cryptic vision of something that may or may not come to pass.
10Temporal Unraveling: You experience all possible versions of your life simultaneously for 6 seconds. Roll on the Short-Term Madness table and take 10d8 psychic damage. Your perception of time is permanently altered (minor RP effect).

This ring is one of Seylon's legendary Rings of Power, touching upon the delicate fabric of time itself. It grants the wearer glimpses of what was and what will be, allowing them to alter fate in small but crucial ways.

This is an additional ring beyond the four main ones. It deals with time manipulation and foresight, making it extremely powerful for tactical gameplay.
