Description

Caoimhe's mother, and a Muggle. She lives in Glenvale, the misty Irish village where Caoimhe grew up, and has raised her daughter alone since Caoimhe was three.

Personality

Quiet, watchful and fiercely independent. Aisling does not ask for help and does not expect it, and she raised Caoimhe to need no one — which is where a good deal of her daughter's steel comes from, and some of her wariness too.

She is warm with Caoimhe and guarded with almost everyone else. Promises in particular she has no patience for.

Background

Twelve years ago a quiet, brilliant scholar came through Glenvale researching Celtic mythology, and stayed. Aisling knew him as Thomas Keelan. Caoimhe was born in November 1992. He was gone before she was old enough to remember him, and the letters that surfaced afterwards said he had left them for another woman.

Aisling has never spoken to Caoimhe about him, and does not intend to. All Caoimhe has of him is a pen with the initials ST, found on her mother's desk.

When the Hogwarts letter arrived, Aisling was overjoyed for her daughter and shaken in a way she has not explained to anyone.
