Abel Gaunt

Description
A sturdy man in his sixties in a battered wide-brimmed hat and a quilted jerkin that smells of woodsmoke and tar. He has a boatman's hands and a warder's way of standing with his back to a wall.
Personality
Plain, unhurried, and not easily impressed. He says less than he knows and admits to less than he should have done. He does not like being rescued and will not say thank you until much later.
Background
Twenty years a warder at Azkaban, who left when the dementors did. He runs a ferry to the island from the old coastguard fort for lawyers and families who would rather the Ministry did not log the trip, and he owes Tobias Crane a favour from the old days.
Story
The party met him at the fort in Session 18 - First Disarm, fed the dragon that had burned his boats, and cleared the grindylows out of his cave for a spare.
